VIPoma

VIPoma
n.
a usually malignant tumour of islet cells of the pancreas that secretes large amounts of VIP. This results in severe watery diarrhoea (‘pancreatic cholera’ or the Verner-Morrison syndrome), with loss of potassium and bicarbonate and a low level of stomach acid. The treatment is surgical removal of the tumour.
